It has made little sense
It has made little sense to me how heavily we regulate people coming into this country by air when Mexico and Canada are completely unfortified when it comes to entering the United States. In The Teeth of the Tiger Tom Clancy writes about terrorists who arrive in Columbia and then head up into the United States through Mexico - a scary though considering this is the same man who wrote about an airliner being crashed into the US Capitol Building in the early 1990s.
It used to be if you got caught in the United States illegally by border control, you could demand a hearing in front of an immigration judge and then pretty much just slip off. No more.
Check out this story that does a bit to help, still, there should be a lot more done to secure the Mexican border, I wonder how many illegal off the books jobs have been created in the U.S.
And in other news it's Amazing Race night... more on that later.
