Confessions of a not so dangerous mind

Alright, I've got all of the photo blogging done, a little recap of what has happened. It's been sort of a whirlwind of emotions recently.

We had a farewell to Beermann last week as we went to Tico's, played games, watched at Atlantis, and then the next morning watched the football game. Now one of my best friends from college lives in Kansas City, and to be honest, I don't think things will be quite as lively around here without him. That afternoon, Sarah broke up with me.

Talk about system shock when two of the people closest to you check out in their own way. I see this as yet another chapter of my story closing. It's always a little bit terrifying to have what you know end, and know that something new will soon begin.

There is an anticipation to it. In some ways I'm looking forward to the opportunity that the future holds. Discovering other people, finding new adventures to have, meeting new friends to take the place of the old in my daily life.

Maybe this means I'm taking the whole thing rather well? I guess that's one way of looking at it. God never closes a door without opening another one. So where is that door? What adventure lies behind it? Who else is going to be along for the ride?

My own life is like a book that I'm reading, and I must say it's pretty damn intriguing at times. The big problem with it is that you can't flip a few pages forward to find out what happens next.

One thing I think I have learned though is that focusing too much on what happens in the future isn't always the best thing. Sometimes what is happening right now - the people in your life and their events is more important than wondering what the future holds and just enjoying the experience of getting there.

So to all of my friends who read this, thank you for being there for me. I love all you guys and am looking forward to years of late night conversations, games of cards, walks on the beach (for the L.A. crew, Travicon and Whonder), football games, road trips, and whatever the hell else we may do. You guys are the best, and I can't imagine my current life without you.

Some of you I've known for years, others only a few weeks or months. I value each of you though. If there is one thing this past week has done more than anything is remind me to value those who are around me and who I can see every day and be a part of their life. Our time together is too short.

Looking forward to many more late nights and cups of coffee (or other drinks of substance ;-)),

-Will
