Desperate Housewives
Yeah, that show has apparently had a huge effect on things. Last night here in San Francisco I was hit on by so many older women it wasn't even funny. Sweet jesus. Some guys I was in the elevator ride with mentioned the same thing on the way up.
Maybe a fluke? Or maybe just the freeing of these women thanks to ABC?
Regardless, I needed a shower afterwards... sorry, but women close to my mom's age just kinda freak me out.

In a land of make-believe, don't believe in me
I'm off to the beautiful city by the bay, San Francisco. I'll spend an evening eating wonderful italian food with the online journo crowd before having the Doom III Xbox and Doom III Expansion PC press event tomorrow followed by more food.
Thursday morning I fly to sin city, Las Vegas. Afternoon spend with games, evening with food, night with booze at Rain. Friday/Saturday? Who knows.
Sunday I be back.

"Love may transform me to an oyster..."
I'm pretty psyched about next week, the UNL Theatre is performing Much Ado About Nothing, one of my favorite Shakespearean plays. The line that is the title of the post comes from one of my favorite monologues in the play.
Watching Harold and Kumar Go To Whit Castle. It's most excellent. I'm shocked my how much I'm enjoying it.
I've got a couple of major frickin projects I need to get done over tonight and tomorrow, but have no motivation. I really need to do well on this Compensation Management test.
Off to beautiful San Francisco on Tuesday, then flying from S.F. to Las Vegas on Thursday where I'll have an event that day. Sometime that night or the next morning my dad is driving over from Los Angeles to hang out for a couple days, so that'll be fun. Dunno what we'll do (Grand Canyon, Star Trek Experience, etc.) but it'll be fun.
Finally, my new home theater manager had us all in for a nice long meeting tonight. Should be interesting, I guess this is the 4th HT Manager in the past year, and my personal second. Apparently this guy turned around the wireless and digital imaging department at another store, so it'll be interesting to say the least. I think it'll be weird being gone for most of the first week of this new system though.

If you could have lunch with any one person, living or dead....
I'm pretty exhausted from all of the work, and the next few days are going to be packed with work, school, homework, group meetings and packing for travel. I have to say I'm looking very much forward to many days of sleeping in while on the road. Many, many days.
One of my great great aunts sent my mom some pictures of my great grandfather that she had found, he died in 1983, about a year before I was born. Tim and I had a conversation about he never really got to know Grandpa Steinke and how he always felt like he had missed out on something everyone else had. While I've gotten to know my grandparents, I still would've liked to gotten to know him better. It's crazy seeing the pictures.
Other than that, I'm tired as hell. I think my goal for tomorrow is to take care of everything besides my compensation mngt test, then work on that for some of sunday and then again on Monday. Outa here on Tuesday and while that trip will take something out of me, it's going to be good to get out for a while.
Anyways... that's all for now.

Sweet mother of DVDs!
Just checked the release list for February 22nd and there are tons of good movies coming out.
First up is two Miyazaki films, Nausica and Porco Rosso. Those should be fun to check out and maybe I'll have a little anime film get together (/Tempt Beermann). After that, there is also South Park Season 5 as well as I Heart Huckabees, one of my favorites from 2004. Finally, Heat and Get Shorty round out the week, both aren't as big a deal to me, though Get Shorty including a free ticket to Stay Cool makes it attractive.
Now back to my regularly scheduled International Econmics.

Fuck Time Warner
I think I've finally got this whole HD thing figured out. Had a guy come out to calibrate it today and he got it looking nice for me (not too far off from where I set it, but there is a difference).
Anyways, the High-Def DVRs came in this past weekend. I didn't know I had one there, but found out today and went down to get one. Enter snowstorm. Enter overcautious drivers. Result: James arrives one minute after TWC closes, right as they are locking the door behind the last customer. Dammit.
Hopefully I'll get it tomorrow and never have to download a torrent for a TV show again.
I'm going to San Francisco and Las Vegas next week for back-to-back junkets. First time I'll have ever flown from one junket to another. Get the weekend in Vegas on Midway, but have the feeling I'm going to actually take a little trip out to the Grand Canyon for some thought time... my dad's going to be in L.A. so he might come over to Vegas though, so we'll see. Either way it works it'll be fun. I just prefer lonely in the desert than lonely on the Strip :-). If others are around, no lonely.
Taxes looked like they might suck hard this year, then I remembered the laptop I'm using and that's going to be a hefty deduction. I think I can make some education deductions as well for the bits of my education I paid for. Even then, still won't be a cheap tax setup.
I was planning on posting pictures from the chocolate time but alas, I left the camera at home in the vain attempt to get a DVR.
More work tomorrow and then some test study time. WHEE!

Argh
Was at work all day... our senior left because he hit overtime, and then the next three people scheduled to come in called in sick, broken car in Omaha, and grandmother going to the hospital. This left just a few people and needless to say, I was irritated as hell. It wasn't so much at the people though, it was much more that the managers just didn't really seem to care that we were getting slammed and the calvary wasn't coming. Then one had the audacity to rip on me because his department was ahead of ours on budget for the day.
Sigh. The honeymoon had to end at some point I suppose. Even Scott, our L.P guy at the front, said, "It must be bad, you're always happy but today you're really upset."
Upset is right.
In good news though, went to sushi with Johnson and Steven before ending up playing a game. Last night was Chocolate Lover's Fantasy, pictures from that coming soon.
And a funny moment I can totally relate to from a recent episode of Stargate:
(while on a trip)
O'Neill: D'oh.
Teal'C: What?
O'Neill: I forgot to tape the Simpsons... what? it's important to me.
Finally, I signed an e-mail to someone "-Will", maybe this blog name wasn't the best idea... thanks Travicon.

State of the Union
State of the Union was presented in high-definition, totally awesome.
Now if only Fox was on Time Warner Cable, I could actually watch the damn Super Bowl in HD.
Anyways, good speech by Bush, he almost cried when a couple who lost their son in Iraq got like a 3 minute standing ovation and a hug from the representative from the voters of Iraq.
Funny moment was when Bush finished, left the podium and gave Lieberman a big hug, then went back to his own side of the aisle.
Anyways, back to Stargate SG-1 Season 5.

Swenseth --- female version
I'm in a class that is essentially recovering all of the operations management stuff I learned in J.D. Edwards. Boring as hell. The prof is nice and boring, but doesn't seem to have quite the interesting/random/time wasing stories that Scott Swenseth did.
In other news, we've been playing Settlers of Catan online and I picked up the complete series of Wonderfalls on DVD. Everything is just about hooked up like I want it now... just a few more cables and set ups I may invest in before calling it good.
Anyways. Back to boring class. I guess.

Radio Silence
I think I now know how Apollo 13 felt when they went around to the dark side of the moon.
Hopefully I won't be silent to you all.
